About East Cornwall Hunt Monitors
Meet East Cornwall Hunt Monitors: a new, welcoming group protecting wildlife and gathering evidence of illegal hunting for police and working to end hunting mammals with dogs.
Why we formed the group
We’re a new, small group working across East Cornwall to protect wildlife, gather evidence of illegal hunting and submit it to police.
Our countryside is home to many different people, livelihoods and traditions. It is also home to animals that deserve to live without being chased for sport. We want to work with people who share that concern, wherever they’re starting from.
We call ourselves hunt monitors because observing, documenting and reporting what happens is central to our work.

What we’re here to do
Monitor hunts and submit evidence
Monitor hunt activity and keep an accurate record of what we see. When we record evidence of illegal hunting, we submit it to police to support an investigation and prosecution.
End the hunting of mammals with dogs
Our aim is to end the hunting of mammals with dogs in this country. We support enforcement of the existing law and stronger protection that prevents hunts from continuing to pursue wild animals.
Make wildlife protection more accessible
Share practical wildlife advice and help people find rescue organisations, conservation groups and ways to get involved.
Help us build the group
We’re building this together. People with local knowledge, a few spare hours or a useful skill can all make a difference. You don’t have to be an expert, own equipment or have volunteered before.
